Why is God Against Living Together
Before Marriage?
Living
together with the opposite sex creates some sort of bonding between the adults
living together. It is bound to happen because seeing and sharing things
together in the same house creates some form of intimacy which can lead to
sexual intimacy.
God’s
controlling measure against sexual immorality is the barrier created by living
apart! Men are visual beings and are easily swayed by the nakedness of women. This
can happen only when the two opposite sex live in the same house and sharing
toilet, bathroom and bedroom. We must not create room for sin to consume us.
We must not
put ourselves in a vulnerable position that leads us to sexual intimacy that is
outside marriage. Living together before marriage removes the barrier of separateness
for temptation which God has set up.
Conclusion
God is never
the author of confusion and as such does not support adults of the opposite sex
to live together before marriage, without marital commitment that comes with
marriage.
It is
practically impossible for a man and a woman that are romantically connected
outside of marriage, to live together without sexual intimacy. It is extremely
impossible!
Living
together before marriage leads to sexual sins, which the Bible describes as
fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18). And fornication is a sin before God.
Marriage is honorable
and the marital bed must remain undefiled. And God promises to judge people
that flaunt His Word. It also draws a clear distinction between what is pure
and honorable (sex in marriage), and that which is sexual sin (sex outside
marriage)
It therefore
means that living together before marriage or co-habitation is a sin.
