Marriage as ordained by God is a thing of honour. (Hebrew 13:4).
According to the Christians' instruction manual otherwise referred to as the Bible, says marriage is a covenant that ultimately results in a fusion, a blending, and of course a life-long relationship between one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24)
"Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall become United and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." Genesis 2:24 AMPLIFIED BIBLE VERSION.
THE ABUSE OF THE MARRIAGE INSTITUTION
When people are ignorant of the purpose of a thing, abuse the say is inevitable.
The marriage as an institution is old and began after God created man and woman according to the Scriptures in Genesis 2:18:
"Now the Lord God said, it is not good (sufficient, satisfactory ) that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper meet (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him." AMPLIFIED BIBLE VERSION.
In essence, God Almighty is the Author of the institution called marriage. And if you like He is the Vice Chancellor!

For Christian Singles contemplating marriage, I would encourage you to put God first. Prayerfully seek or find your marriage partner.
If you acknowledged God with respect your choice of marriage partner, the Bible says He will direct you on how to find that special man or woman He ordained specially for you.
He admonished us in His Word with respect to the choices or decision we make that we should:
"Trust the Lord completely! Don't depend on your own knowledge. Think about God in all that you do. Then He will help you."
